Replacement UPVC Door Handles

Find the perfect handle for your door, whether replacing your handles or adding security. Upvc handles are simple to fit and comply with the 92mm centers required by multipoint locks.

The backplate fixing center and the lever/keyhole dimensions are the most important measurements. Compare these measurements to your existing marks carefully before placing an order.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad door handles are made up of the lever handle on one side and a paddle shaped handle on the other. They are intended for use with key wind locks. However they can be affixed to multipoint split spindle door locks.

Once you have selected the correct handle for the doors, the finishes will be displayed in the drop-down list. Some styles of handles are not available in all finishes. You should always check the technical drawing and size sections for the specific item that you want to ensure that you receive the right fit and size.

It is crucial to ensure that when you choose the new set of upvc lever pad handles, they are in line with the PZ (distance from the spindle of the handle to the middle of the hole in the cylinder) of your multipoint door locks. This is because the handles must be lined up for the doors to stay locked, whether you are viewing them from the inside or from the outside. The handles we offer are designed to work with a variety of standard cylinder locks, however you should always double-check before ordering.

You will need to remove your existing handles and dismantle the lock case if upgrading to dual spindle levers for your handle since this will require an additional split inline cylinder. You can purchase these separately. We have included a technical illustration in the images of each product.

It is a good thing to loosen the screws holding your existing door handle and then check the mechanism. If the screws aren't loose enough it is possible to loosen them even more. Then you can remove the spindle from the handle and replace it with a new Upvc handle. Before you screw the handle into the frame, it is a good idea to check that it is in the correct position. You can do this by placing your finger in the gap between the frame of the door and the door handle to make sure that it is level.

Lever/Lever

The lever handles on doors are used to operate a multi-point lock using the Euro cylinder. They can be found on many upvc double doors as well as aluminium and wooden doors. They have a lever on the inside and a paddle on the outside and are usually supplied in two types. Sprung - they have a spring cassette fitted within the backplate that helps bring the handle lever into a horizontal position. Non-sprung - These do not have a spring mechanism, and will require manual pulled to bring the handle lever to the horizontal position.

To fix a door handle lever that is sagging you'll need to locate the hole or detent access pin. It's typically an insignificant hole or protruding ring or rectangular that is located on the base of the handle plate. Once you have located the hole for accessing the detent or pin, you can remove it with a screwdriver.

Once the handle is set horizontally, it is possible to install the screws. Tighten  these details  to ensure that the handle is securely connected to the base plate. You should also consider applying an adhesive that locks the threads of the screw to increase the grip and stop them from loosing over time.

Drooping lever door handles can be caused by many factors. The most common cause is that the fixings have been too tightened and are putting stress on the lever bearing which causes it to become a bind on the door's surface. It could also be due to the fact that the levers are not being operated at a straight angle and this is causing compression of the latch mechanism preventing it from fully springing back into operation.

The most common reason for a sprung lever not working properly is the spring not being in the proper position on the backplate. The most effective way to determine this is to operate the handle to see whether it changes to its horizontal position.

It is crucial to repair any door handles that are loose as soon as possible. This could cause excessive wear on the screws and the handle might fall off the base plate. You should also tighten loose screws frequently to prevent them from becoming looser.

Lever/Snib

The handles for doors made of upvc are also referred to as 'Snib' handles and have a snib lever towards the top of the lever that you can push down to lock your door in the event that you don't have the Dummy lock. These door handles are fitted with the Fullex lock 68PZ. (68mm between spindle and lock centre). We also have a selection of door handles with 68PZ from manufacturers like Ferco and Fab & Fix.

Lever on backplate handles are typically rectangular, but you can also find oval or circular-shaped versions that are referred to as rose door handles. These kinds of door handles are equipped with a lever or knob on a backplate that sits behind the knob or lever and is sometimes called a rosette, although certain back plates can be removed to allow for concealed fixing.

There is a variety of chrome and colored finishes available for these handles to complement your door and other hardware, like hinges, knobs and bolts. Some handles are supplied with grub screws that aid in the secure attachment of the lever or knob to the spindle. Some handles are equipped with bathroom spindles that are suitable for bathroom locks. They also come with an release mechanism that turns the thumb and can be used on bathroom doors.

Mortise

The tubular latch is the most likely to be the cause of this in the event that your door handle is slammed shut. It could be due to various reasons, but the most common is the lack of lubrication on the latch plate. This can be corrected easily by simply opening the door and spraying lubricant over the lock and handle. Alternatively, it could be that the latch plate has been dislodged from the backplate. This can be a bit more complicated and requires a professional to fix it.

A multipoint handle system is the best solution for a stuck door handle. These handles mount through the faceplate of the door and are operated with a thumb turn knob or key that triggers an electronic cam that locks the deadbolt. The handles are available in a range of sizes to suit different types of uPVC doors. They are also available in an array of attractive finishes that match existing hardware. The handles can be bought online or through an authorized locksmith in your area. They are easy to install with clear instructions.

To choose a replacement handle set, you'll have to know the PZ size of the cylinder. This is the distance from the edge of the door frame to the centre point of the hole for the handle in millimetres. You will also need the type of lock for your door, irrespective of whether it's a mortise or hook lock. The most efficient way to locate the right handles after you have the measurements is to use the brand filter on the website. This will help narrow down your options and then you can choose the correct size.

A typical set of handles includes the handle unit comprising two screws of different lengths, drill guides and instructions for installation. The smarter versions, such as the Igloohome Smart Mortise 2+, include the complete mortice lock, which has an integrated keypad. These are more complicated devices and are best suited to professional installers or competent DIYers. Some handle sets come with various accessories, like weather strips, which can be used to improve the appearance of the door.
